GitHub pages

So, am going second (first was blogger ;) with GitHub pages. Lets see what all is there to offer.

Approx time taken: half a day

Cost: free

Skills: You need to be able to create your own site. For hosting, no specific skills were required.

Well this one was pretty easy.

- Go ahead and create an account on GitHub

- Create a repository

- Add your site to it from GUI if you are not used to using it from command line

- Go to repository settings and enable Pages

- Site is done, and available here at : https://0-1-0-1.github.io/whatfun/

- Next step is to make this single page site bit more complex, and host it on a custom URL

Why this blog

The idea is to evaluate various ways of creating websites and publishing them. There are lots of platforms now to host and lots of tools to create websites. I started out trying to experiment with what's available with cloud infra providers, and there is a lot of stuff. So I thought why not to check them out, and check others out and document the process.

So here we go, with the first site on blogger it self. This one. Takes less than 10 mins to setup and post the very first post.
